Ange Oby Kajuru - Women's Tennis Big 12 Championship

Ange Oby Kajuru became the fourth player in Cowgirl tennis history to win Big 12 Player of the Year.

The Oklahoma State Cowgirl tennis team earns postseason awards after regular season dominance.

OSU took home three of the four annual awards and received multiple Big 12 recognitions.

Ange Oby Kajuru is the fourth player in program history to earn Big 12 Player of the Year. She joins Bunyawi Thamchaiwat (2021), Viktoriya Lushkova (2015) and Marla Phillips (2001).

Kajuru’s 34-7 season record and six wins over nationally ranked opponents kept her in the top 10 of the ITA singles rankings the entire season.

LSU transfer Anastasiya Komar won the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year award after a 26-11 singles record for the year. Komar’s significant performance on Court 1 earned her a spot in the NCAA singles and doubles championships.

Coach Chris Young adds his second Big 12 Coach of the Year award to his resume. The first came after he led his team to the best season in program history in 2016 with a 24-4 record and the regular season title. This year, his undefeated team has surpassed that performance and made history.

No. 3 Kajuru, No. 18 Komar and No. 46 Peyre received All-Big 12 First Team Singles honors, while No. 72 Safiya Carrington and No. 84 Ayumi Miyamoto earned All-Big 12 Second Team Singles honors.

All-Big 12 First Team Doubles goes to the No. 3 duo of Kajuru and Komar and Miyamoto and Raquel Gonzalez were named an All-Big 12 Second Team Doubles pair.

Kajuru and Peyre were the No. 2 and 3 positions for the individual season champions. Kajuru had nine wins, while Peyre shared the position with Charlotte Chavatipon from Texas with seven wins.

The Cowgirls have continued to thrive in the postseason as they won the Big 12 Championship, where Kristina Novak was named the MVP. They continue their journey on May 4 at the Greenwood Tennis Center as they take on Fairfield in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
