Cuba recognizes outstanding workers and collectives for their merits



HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 30 (ACN) The trajectory and exemplary work of outstanding workers and collectives was distinguished in Havana during the ceremony for the awarding of decorations and honorary titles.

The ceremony was attended by Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, where the honorary title of Hero of Labor was conferred on 19 leaders of the Cuban workers' movement.

Among the honorees were Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, deputy prime minister and head of foreign trade and investment, Digna Guerra, director of the national choir of Cuba, and intellectuals Lesbia Claudina Vent Dumois and Isabel Monal Rodriguez, among others.

The first, second and third degree Lazaro Peña Orders and the Jesus Menendez Medal were also awarded to about thirty workers and three collectives: the Inter-Arms School of the Revolutionary Armed Forces General Antonio Maceo Order Antonio Maceo, the Vita Nuova Restaurant in Mayabeque, and the Siboney International Clinic.

The President was joined by members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernandez, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State, Manuel Marrero Cruz, Cuban prime minister, Roberto Morales Ojeda, secretary of Organization, and Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, secretary general of the Cuban Workers' Federation, among other leaders.
